So, this morning I didn’t wake up in a great mood. I had a hard time getting up. I didn’t want to do anything. I was laying there thinking that I might lose this day to my ADHD. Then, that nag in my brain reminded me that I’m an ADHD coach and I should use my damn skills. So, out I went to the yard.
Folks, at 6:45 this morning, this ADHD coach was in her yard wearing her pajamas and some nice bed head loping invasive bushes and pulling roots. It felt great! I was getting stuff done. As the morning coffee kicked in and the exercise of root pulling and brush pile creating helped me get my head clear I started to compose this post.
I did yard work for about 45 minutes, started my morning routine, and here I am at the computer doing a task I’ve put off for more than a month. Whew,
What’re the things I did to dodge a rut?
* Started my day with something I love to do
* Got out and moved
* Did something stimulating and snuck in a task I don’t love to do while I’m still feeling the benefit of that stimulation in my brain
* Worked my positive self talk throughout. (“this is so much better than laying in bed”, “this area will look so nice”, “what can I do to feel even more proud of myself” etc)
* Didn’t touch my computer until I felt stimulated enough to work rather than waste time
PS: I also got to enjoy sunrise in my yard!
Enjoy your weekend!
